Metro Therapy has established a certificate authority (CA) to issue digital certificates that therapists can use to sign electronic documents. Therapists providing services through Metro Therapy can obtain a digital signature certificate and software needed to generate digitally signed Acrobat (PDF) files by contacting the office.
A Metro Therapy CA digital signature on an Acrobat document allows you to verify who generated the document and verify that the document was not tampered with after signing.
By default, a signed document viewed in Acrobat Reader will display a question mark with the digital signature information since Acrobat does not have a way to verify the validity of the digital signature. Acrobat will still verify that the document has not been tampered with and provide the name of the person who claims to have signed the document.
The example below shows a signed document viewed in Acrobat 8.

You can add the Metro Therapy CA certificate to your list of trusted identities in Adobe Acrobat if you want to verify the validity of the digital signature. With the Metro Therapy CA certificate added to Acrobat's identity list, you know that the document was signed with a signature issued to a Metro Therapy therapist.
This example shows the same document viewed in Acrobat 8 after installing the Metro Therapy CA certificate.

Installing the Metro Therapy CA certificate in Acrobat provides additional assurance that the document being viewed is valid, but you do not have to install the certificate to view documents signed by our therapists or employees.
If you want to install the Metro Therapy CA certificate in Adobe Acrobat, follow these instructions to download and install the certificate.
