School Age
Metro Therapy Inc. contracts with many school districts all over Long Island to provide services to their school age population. We strive to promote success in the learning environment by developing independence and improving function. Students are referred to Metro Therapy, Inc. through their school district Committee on Special Education (CSE). The CSE determines the services the student should receive. We maintain rigorous compliance standards to ensure our service providers deliver effective interventions. This includes developing and strengthening physical, academic, and social-behavioral skills so students may engage more productively with their educational curriculum. The professionals with whom we work include, but are not limited to the following:
- Occupational Therapists
- Physical Therapists
- Speech/Language Therapists
- Licensed Psychologists
- Social Workers
- Audiologists
- Behavior Specialists, included BCBA
- Special Educators
- Teachers of the Visually Impaired
- Teachers of the Deaf & Hearing Impaired
- Teaching Assistants
- Literacy Specialists
We have a varied menu of service models that can support the wide-range of educational needs in a district. We can help conduct preliminary screenings and evaluations; we can provide short-term intervention solutions as part of RtI strategies; we can arrange whole-class consults in which our service providers work collaboratively with the classroom teacher to develop specific age-appropriate skills; we schedule tailored interventions in small groups or individual encounters for both classified and non-classified students. Additionally, we also offer an assortment of professional development trainings to support educational and instructional staff.
Together, we can make difference!
